Happy Thanksgiving

I hope that all of you have a wonderful, blessed, peaceful Thanksgiving holiday...

On Thanksgiving, I wanted to tell you all how grateful I am to have such a strong network of wonderful people that understand all of the stages of post GB surgery that we go through.

I am grateful to people like Dr Boe, who choose not to judge obese people, but see beyond the limitations of obesity to the potential that we have inside.

I am grateful that the surgery was a vehicle for my pursuing other dreams - my Mary Kay business is phenomenal

I am grateful for being able to breathe easily, sleeping fitfully, and being able to buy nice clothes that are less expensive

I am blessed, and I am grateful

I just wanted to take the opportunity to say Happy Thanksgiving!!! Regardless of our various beliefs I believe we can all find something in which to be thankful. Please share with us something that you are thankful:

I am thankful for the opportunity that I was given by having this surgery as well as the friendships that I have formed as a result of this blessing. I am thankful for God blessing me with a loving family that I can always turn to when things are wrong or right. I am even more thankful for having a Heavenly Father that has allowed me to see another day.

I Jogged today!!!!

After taking my 4 year old to his school bus stop, my 2 year old and I "chugged", (you know, like a train) 1/2 of the way home. I was JOGGING!! all of my hard work each evening after the boys go to bed is paying off. I could JOG, and I wasn't feeling like I was going to die. Sure, I was breathing heavy, but it felt good. One day at a time, this new me will appear.

How much pain will I be in after surgery??? We have a 3 hour drive home and I'm a little nervous how I will be able to tolerate the long ride. My husband and I are both having lapband the same day so I guess we'll be fighting for the front seat

Hi,

I know I haven't posted in a while but life gets us busy, i do stop in every so often and read up. Welcome to all the new comers and congrats to all the new losers on the bench with us.

Just thought to drop a line and say hi and see how everyone is doing, also to give a quick update. I am doing really well and I am pretty happy, I have reached my goal I am down 117 lbs, I started at 267 wearing size 22/24. I now 10 months later weigh 150 lbs and am wearing a size 8, life is so nice to go shopping now lol. Thank for letting me blab, i just thought to share my excitement with my family here at barix.

Hey All,

I have not been on here in forever. How is everyone? This is my first Thanksgiving since surgery and I am working so I am thinking it should not be too bad.

So, the question I have is for anyone who is or has suffered from heartburn post-surgery. I will be celebrating my one year surgiversary on December 11th! I have been suffering from heartburn for about 3 weeks now after eating (sometimes before). Is this normal? Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you resolve it?

lets all remember with this big food holiday not to overeat.if you do it can ruin your whole day
chew your food very well
NO SUGAR there are many SF desserts out there,
when I had my RNY several years ago I can remember the post=op leader said ,"Don't ever test your pouch respect it" if you dump from sugar that is a good thing but if you don't dump then you can wind up back where you started. I don't know if I dump from sugar cause I haven't had sugar in 3 years and I don't miss it I learned to make stuff SF, and just because it is SF doesn't mean you can eat whatever you wanr

SUGAR FREE PUMKIN PIE & ccconut custard

Hi all SF pumpkin pie, follow the recipe on the Libby's can and substitute splenda for sugar, use the granulated splenda DO NOT USE THE SPLENDA BLEND it is 1/2 sugar and it may make you dump.

COCCONUT CUSTARD pie

1 pkg vailla SF instant pudding mix with 1 3/4 cup cold milk

1 regular tub of cool whip ,blend with vanilla pudding mixtureand then add

1/2 cup UNSWEETENED cocconut

I found it @ Giant in the organic aisle. I didn't put mine in a crust causE i dont want or need the extra calories, if you want a crust buy the premade pie crust & bake it Nfter it is cooled down put the pudding mixture in and let cool. your family will never know it is sugar free

Passed my PATS! It's 'game on'!

Hi All,
I made the trek to Ypsilanti on Monday and was given the green light for my surgery next Thursday. Everyone at the clinic was very pleasant and helpful. I was concerned that my diagnosis of sleep apnea would put a blip on the radar but whatever they check in your blood for that (oxygen levels?) came back OK. I've been on a Cpap machine for a month now (a really sexy look if you are trying to decide what to ask for this Christmas!) and I take my machine with me to the hospital. I'll be able to scare everyone there too!
I am feeling really positive about what lies ahead and I want to thank everyone for their encouraging words and emails on my road to fitness and good health.

Where do I send the ohip papers now with all the changes

My Dr called today to tell me he had the papers done to send out but I found out there is changes to the way things have to be done, What is the next step I should take and where should I send these papers. Any Information would be wonderful. I have had a appointment with Barix in September but it took my Dr so long to get the forms filled out that everything has changed.

My surgery is scheduled December 15 th

Well I'm "REALLY" on my way now !
My pats are December 9th.
And surgery is scheduled for December 15th !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in Langhorne with Dr.L. Popkuva( I gotta learn how to spell that)
I started "cleaning" the cabinets and fridge out of all the things that I won't be able to have, and donated ALL my summer clothes
to one of those yellow boxes.
Any suggestions on what I should have in my pantry & fridge
for when I come home would be GREATLY appreciated.
