Reply with quote | #17 | aah....Day 2 was easier.. Just finished my dinner protein drink and I"m stuffed. Can't lay on my stomach to post here tonite it's too uncomfy! Anyway, after today I'm even thinking of doing a 3rd day before heading back on to soft protein like tuna and chicken. I have just learned that I must keep my head on track no matter what else is going on in my life...which after this past 2 yrs should be a snap in the future. (my husband has had back problems, shoulder surgery plus both his parents passed away within 4 months of each other) I will check in again...but I do want to give encouragement to others in my predicament and to those who are just beginning their journey. __________________ PAT Weight 10/11/06: 307

Reply with quote | #19 | DAY 4 OF THE 5DPT What a revelation this morning...my main problem all this time is the drinking of water or other liquids before and after meals. Fancy that after 2 1/2 yrs I find out that not drinking during my meal or waiting that 30 minutes before or after to drink is pure torture for me!!! That's why I'm on here so early!!! I'm looking for things to do that will keep me away from the drink...only 4 more minutes to go!!!
Today I get to have hard protein, actual meat...not the canned stuff like yesterday. Dinner tonite will be chicken...my family loves it baked in cream of mushroom soup. I leave the skin on it and when I eat it, I peel the skin and don't have any of the soup. It's a win win dish for the family. Yesterday I did walk about a mile...don't know for sure as I haven't taken the car out to see LOL and I will walk again today! I also have to do all the housework today because I didn't do a thing yesterday other have my nails and toes done, grocery shop and read.. Was a nice day off since I also slept till 1 PM.
Ok...time to go fix myself a drink!!! __________________ PAT Weight 10/11/06: 307

Reply with quote | #20 | day 5 of 5DPT
Ok...I didn't get hungry today but I did discover while at work....I don't eat enough during the day...
Breakfast - Oatmeal..1 serving hmmm maybe a cup...you know it's in those little bags you
mix with 2/3 cups boiling water.
Lunch - Protein Shake
snack - 1/2 cup of cantalope and 1 piece of string cheese.
through out the day I do drink protein water (23 grams per serving) I had 3 of those.
Dinner hasn't happened yet..it will I just haven't decided what!
Anyway...as you can see, if I pay attention to the protein...I need more calories...sooo that's my next challenge here..
I do take all my vitamins and I do get in my protein and have found out the problems are mine and not my pouch. This may be a call to my nut! __________________ PAT Weight 10/11/06: 307

Reply with quote | #21 | Hello out there! This is my first post to the message board so I hope I'm doing it right. *S*
I have been reading some of the posts about backsliding and know I'm in the right area. I had my surgery in August 2008 and have lost 85 lbs to date but am slipping back into old habits-eating simple carbs and too much fat- and am scared to death about gaining back the weight. I haven't gained any weight back but am not losing any either and know it is just a matter of time before I do start gaining. I still would like to lose 15 more pounds and feel this goal slipping away from me. My stomach may be a lot smaller but my mind is still the same and wants the old, comfort foods back.
I would be so grateful for any reply posts. |

Reply with quote | #22 | Hello there....it's time for you to get back to the basics!! I went to http://www.5daypouchtest.com/index.html to give me a jump start. What I found during this 5 days was other than eating the "slider" foods, I was drinking at the totally wrong times. But you are right, this is the place to be for support!! __________________ PAT Weight 10/11/06: 307

Well I have really figured out that if I don't drink with my meals or after I can only eat a very small portion. My problem is that I do work in an office but I graze on candy and junk food in between my little meals. I need some how to make a schedule to eat and eat only then. When I try and not graze at work I feel I am constantly walking around the office searching for something. I just feel so lost when I am not eating or snacking on something. If anyone can help me with a schedule of eating and any tips that would be great. I had my surgery in 1998 and have gained all the weight back. I went to Barix in Michigan and and they checked and my small pouch is still in place. HELP!!!! |

Reply with quote | #25 | Hi all I am new here. I am 13 years post op. I started at 265, down as low as 157 back up to 225 now comfortable at a size 12 175 pounds. I am 5'8 1/2 so 175 is comfortable for me.
After the birth of my third child, in 2000 5 years post op, I started the pregnancy at 195, only gained 19 pounds but lost 38. Then old habits kicked in and before I knew it I was back up to a size 18 and 225 lbs.
I have not done the pouch test or On Track program. I just realized that I had to do this for my health. For my children, and why did I go through all of the to sabotage myself and get obese again. So I began to excercise more, eat better and really decided I would not diet ever again just change my mindset and realize that I just want to be healthy. If you have it in your head that you have to diet again you are setting yourself up for failure. You still have your "tool" i.e. pouch. Use it!!! You can do it!!!!! |

Reply with quote | #26 | Well I went to the YMCA this morning and did a workout routine in the pool.
I have terrible Arthiritis in my hips so I can only really exercise in the pool
with out alot of pain. I ate 3 meals 3 snacks and never drank with any of it.
I feel much better about myself today. I wasn't even hungry but I sure
missed the junk food but I know when I weigh in tomorrow the scales will
make me smile instead of cry. |

I almost have that 10 off and I have 20 to goal yet so I'm on a mission to make that then to hopefully have a badly needed tummy tuck down the road!! We can all get through this together...hang in there and don't give up until you are BACK ON TRACK!! There is no quick fix, it's a mind game also and you have to really want to do this and make it work for you from now on!! |

I'm new to this and hope I'm posting my message right. I had my surgery on 3-3-03. I weighed in at 295 and now weigh 192. I just got married on 6-7-08 and weighed 178. I've gained weight since my marriage and I think it's becaue my husband and I own two homes and it's had to sell right now. I basically see him on weekends. I'm going to try the 5 day pouch test. How it works!!! I need to get back on track!!! Thanks for the info !!!
