You guys are all great! Thanks again.  So yes - Lap RNY with Dr. Taylor.  PATS is 1 week away - just booked our hotel for Sunday.  My mother is coming with us for that and we are staying at the Marriott - split 3 ways is pretty cheap - the cheapest we could get there was $90.  And my mother is kind of fussy so she didn't seem interested in the Red Roof Inn which I would have been happy with!  Is there good shopping near there? - we plan to do some shopping Sunday afternoon.  This whole surgery still doesn't quite seem real.  I hope after PATS it will.  My work is all sorted out- I will even have coverage while I'm off (for 3-4 weeks) - so won't have to worry about that!   I'm sorry - i'm on so many different topics here I should have started new threads. Oh well.  I should find a picture to put on here too.  Have a great week everyone!

Forest Health Medical Center is where Barix Clinic is and it is not in an upscale neighborhood by any shot.  It is toward the North of the Marriott that you will be staying at and not far from the Marriott--maybe 5-10 minutes at most, depending on traffic. To the south of the Marriott, it gets nicer but there isn't much in the way of shopping in that direction either.  There are a couple of nice places to eat.  Ruthann and I ate at a nice little restaurant there but I can't remember the name of it.  She would know the name of it.  It was an outlot restaurant in a shopping center on the west side of the road.

Briarwood Mall is in Ann Arbor and is easy to get to off I-94 which you will be right next to at the Marriott.  These are the directions from the mall web site:
Briarwood Mall is located at the intersection of State Street and I-94, the major east-west freeway in Southern Michigan that connects Ann Arbor to the airport and downtown Detroit.

It's also fun to announce a gathering of Barix Buddies at a certain place at a certain time on an evening that you will be there!  I do this almost every time I am going to be there.  Sometimes there have only been three that have shown up and other times there have been eight or so.  I can't take credit for the idea.  Melting Marjorie and Judy did this the first time (I was elated--it happened to be the night before my surgery--just coincidental--they were there for Judy's surgery too) and it was the best attendance ever and it was at the Marriott where you are staying! And so I have just copied them although I've never had it at the Marriott again--we have met at Panera Breadworks twice--that's a really neat place to meet.  It's great fun to put real bodies and voices with people on the board!  It adds a real special closeness that I would otherwise not have with some of the people on the board--just like having met some of the people in the hospital has done.

I highly encourage you to do that.  If I lived in the area, I would do it for you, but I don't so it wouldn't make much sense for me to do it.  Otherwise, I would be doing it all the time!
